The superior rooms were large, clean, nicely furnished with great views of the 1st tee and 18th green. The bed (2 twins pushed together) was extremely comfortable. Really nice bathroom. Some limited parking just outside the lodge was useful. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. They went out of there way to make it a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was well cooked and good value. We were two couples having a mini break. My husband and our friend both said the golf course was in good condition, challenging and fun. It helped they had great weather. While they were hitting balls around the course, myself and the other lady in the party both had head and back massages from the on site beauty therapist, and it was really relaxing and effective. I would recommend a visit. She was really lovely. Meyrick park is located a short walk to the pier, seafront, shops and restaurants. Although,due to a few steep hills we did get a cab back after a few drinks and dinner on the seafront. This was our first visit and it won't be our last. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommended from our party of 4.

I have written over 2,000 reviews years covering 17 countries and I have to say that this establishment stands out as requiring a forensic criticism I am not in the business of deciding whether someone is nice or nasty but in order to run a bed and breakfast you do need certain basic rules to go by, conventions shall we say. I am left puzzling why this person has taken on this business. Was it for money? For altruistic reasons? On the plus side, the location is convenient for the high street of the amazing town called Bridport, Street parking is realistic, The bed was comfortable and the price reasonable. This is where the good points end. If you are going to convert a house into a hotel-type establishment you need to make sure that everything is in place and to have one bathroom and toilet to serve up to half a dozen guest rooms is unrealistic. What about those who cannot ascend fairly steep stairs? We were situated in the most expensive room, downstairs, a so called suite. The hostess said that the fire would not be lit (strange to say on a day in the mid-20s), and that certain possessions in the room were private. Alas it abutted onto the kitchen separated only by a pair of swing doors. It was possible to hear conversations in the kitchen and of course the same applied to over hearing those in the rented room. We felt we were not private. When our TV could not be persuaded to work we had to ask for assistance. There is a very complicated system where you need three controls apparently due to the local TV signal not being adequate. The manager said that the instructions had been written on a sheet and we should please read it. The instructions were not on the sheet. We had to get her partner in the room who said it was better to demonstrate it then putting it in writing. Even then we failed in our attempts and eventually gave up. The biggest joke was breakfast. There were two rooms vacant and two couples came down at 8:30 to have breakfast. Normally, you have two tables for two groups. We were greeted with one table little bigger than a whist table laid for four people. This would have been fine for a group that knew each other but definitely not fine for those who were strangers and perhaps wish to have their own company especially first thing in the morning. Fortunately, we got on well with the other people but had we not done so I could foresee uncomfortable atmospheres developing. The continental breakfast was minimalist with cereals, coffee or tea, orange juice, bread and butter or toast with various jams. Seven minutes in to the meal our host excused herself saying she had to go and water the garden. Other small points that add up: The banister rails were actually sticky as they had not been cleaned for some time, more than one door hinge squeaked horribly when you had to open or close it, the Yale lock in our door was loose and wobbled up and down. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely we stayed in. Extra blankets available too. Tea and coffee with biscuits and mini fridge for fresh milk (not the uht stuff in the annoying pots you can't open) every detail was thought of. Room was clean and smelt fresh. Plenty of hangers too. There is a small tuck style shop which was cheap if you fancied a bottle of water/drinks and snacks. It is an honesty box, which I think is so lovely. Breakfast included was really good. My husband went full on out on full English and said it was excellent. The bacon was lovely and cooked how I requested. I think it was local. Plenty of toast and top ups of coffee - they were amazing hosts. I loved the personal side of having a chat and interest of what we were doing and helped with recommendations. When you walked back in to the B&B after being out it felt homely walking back in. That's down to them as hosts and being so available to help at anytime even taking bags to the car...outstanding. We normally stay in hotels but I would pick this over any hotel. It was 5* and can't wait to return. Thank you for making us feel welcome. Keep doing what your doing you have got it so spot on.

What can I say other than what a beautiful place this is. The service was superb, Rupert and Camilla are without doubt the nicest hosts you could ever wish to meet and Nutmeg the little dog is just adorable. We only stayed one night as we were doing a karting event but have already decided that we will visit again in the future! Rupert welcomed us on arrival, took our bags to our room and gave us a little tour of the B and B, our room had been heated so it was toasty on arrival and Rupert provided us with a flask of fresh milk for our coffee rather than the UHT milk which is norm for other properties. We were eating out and Rupert kindly booked a table for us at the local pub and even gave us directions on how to get there….very kind. Room was spotless, beautifully decorated with nice comfortable furniture and a really comfortable bed, we slept like logs! Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, plenty of choice, great quality ingredients and cooked to perfection, hosts were extremely attentive ensuring we had enough to eat and drink. All in all our stay was fantastic, thank you so much Rupert and Camilla and of course Nutmeg too! We’ll be back again! Wayne & Jo.

A super three night stay as usual but his time in the Garden room. There is everything you could ask for upon your arrival. Easy electronic access to the house and room. Plenty of parking space. And such wonderful hosts in David and Pumpkin. Going again in November.

We spent one night here and had room 8 on the second floor. We knew about the stairs and no lift from other reviews but this was no problem. We checked in via the Railway Tavern next door. The staff checked us in despite us being earlier than anticipated and showed us to our room. We were unsure about the car parking. However the helpful staff explained that for a refundable deposit of £10, you get a parking voucher to display on your dashboard which enables you to park in the Swannery car park a flat 5 minute walk from the hotel. You are able to park briefly outside the hotel in a loading bay to check in and similarly to return the parking voucher to the hotel and loads your bags on check out. We found all the staff helpful and polite. Our room was large and overlooked the front of the hotel. The shower in particular was fantastic. The breakfast offering is great - you can choose from cereals, full cooked breakfast, eggs on toast in various ways or a bacon or sausage sandwich. We went out for the evening to an amazing Thai restaurant - Monas' - and on our return, we had a couple of drinks in the Railway Tavern. We were not disturbed by any noise from the pub.
