After a few stressful weeks, we arranged childcare and my husband and I booked a night away at Fawsley Hall. We thought we’d splash out on something special. We trawled webpages looking for a good spa hotel and this looked good. On arrival, a lot of people were arriving at the same time but only one man (Stephen) was available to check people in. He was very lovely but clearly rushed off his feet and so we had to wait for 15-20 mins in the Reception area to book in. It would have been great if other staff could have been deployed to the Reception to help book people in. We asked about dinner and we were told that there was limited availability for dinner. This seemed strange given we had paid a lot of money to stay for one night in the hotel. We were told that usually the hotel Would contact guests to book a time for dinner but that they had no contact details at all for us and so hadn’t done this. It seemed quite odd. We had to book for a late 8:30pm dinner slot. We were shown to our room and we asked when would be a good time to go to the Spa. We were told any time was good and that there would always be space. We took a short walk and headed to the spa. The lady there told us that it was very busy and there were no spaces left. We went inside and it was very busy and no loungers were available. We found one available lounger and my husband had to just sit on the floor to read his book beside me. The saunas were full so we had a quick swim and then sat to read. The fire alarm went off and rang and rang. It didn’t stop and after 50 mins, our ears were ringing and we left having not used much of the spa facilities. It was very disappointing as when you book an overnight stay, you check in at 3pm and out at 11am which isn’t even a full 24 hours. That said, the staff were very nice and very apologetic and said they had never seen it so busy in the spa. Back in the room, we got ready to go for dinner. The bathroom was up some stairs and the ceiling is slanted over the sink. If you are tall like I am, you may wish to ask for a room without a slanted ceiling as it is slanted above the toilet and sink area and easy to hit your head. There was a mirror over the sink but it was in a dark corner and the lights on the mirror didn’t work and so I couldn’t do my make-up in the bathroom as I’d wanted. The dinner was super. Ollie our waiter was fabulous and the food was delicious and exciting in a lovely setting. We would give the restaurant and its staff a big thumbs up. The following day, we went for breakfast in the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and pleasant. He offered us tea or coffee and we said “coffee”. After taking some food from the buffet, we ate it and order some hot food but our coffee still hadn’t arrived. Our hot food arrived and then finally a larger pot of coffee arrived for the two of us. Soon after, we noticed the people sitting next to us were brought lovely Latte coffee and we wished we had been offered more of a menu of co
