This hotel exudes charm and the location is probably the best of all of the hotels available in Newport. You can Walk to almost anywhere you’d like to go in Newport from the hotel. The hotel is over 100 years old so it has some quirks like very small bathrooms. The first room we were given was unsatisfactory, after a second trip to the front desk to complain, we were upgraded to a more satisfactory room. This seems like a standard operating procedure for most hotels these days. I guess it’s a game you have to play in order to get a decent room. But one should not have to do that when they’re Paying premium prices. The in-room amenities were Lacking a bit. We had a great experience and room upgrade. The staff for the most part was very friendly like valet and restaurant staff - they were great. The front desk was ok - when we asked about a late checkout which we were told at check in would not be a problem we were asked could you do 11:30 from 11. I literally laughed then she said noon and we responded 2pm which we ultimately got. That was a little annoying. There was a woman at the front desk who didn’t help us but had a resting miserable I’m unhappy face at check in and checkout. Not one smile. I was relieved we were able to avoid her by virtue of our place in line. Also there is no concierge which I thought was odd. Otherwise beautiful views, ambience, and our room was really nice.

Booked a last-minute beach cottage getaway and couldn’t have had a more relaxing or better escape. Beautiful waterfront cottage, breathtaking views and treated like royalty by everyone we encountered. No lunch reservations on arrival when they’re fully booked? No problem if you’re an overnight guest, as they’ll escort you to a premium table in the patio section reserved for hotel guests. Want breakfast on the deck of your cottage? It’s delivered piping hot precisely when you requested. Want to relax on their private beach? A friendly attendant sets up your covered lounge chairs, side table, umbrella and towels exactly where you want them, and brings you water and frozen grapes. Want to slip into town for a bite or shopping? Hop on the launch at their marina, and the captain will point out key sites along the way. Lunch and breakfast offerings were interesting and well-presented. If you can, make time for the included afternoon tea with freshly baked treats and tea sandwiches served in a cozy wood-panelled room off the lobby. Thoughtful amenities in the cottage included a dimmable light, umbrellas, heated bathroom floor, a deep soaking tub, a charging station, a small refrigerator stocked with free water (plus a split of champagne, wine, etc. for purchase), etc., and there’s turndown service with chocolates. Storage for clothing was rather limited if you’re planning an extended stay, but no problem for us. We come to Newport often so spent virtually all our time at Castle Hill. Loved every minute and will return.

absolutely the best place to stay in Newport. Amazing service the breakfast and afternoon tea was incredible! The rooms were period gems with modern amenities. walking distance to all the restaurants and hot spots. Nice courtyard which was beautiful to sit and enjoy during the day or evening
