We stayed one night in the hotel and 8 in Giardino. The hotel is in all respects quite lovely with full amenities, beautifully appointed, comfortable with stunning views and classic Tuscan views. My wife and I had different opinions about the breakfast. She loved it. I am fastidious about the coffee. The self-serve coffee was little better than in an American diner and I have never found Italian breakfasts appealing - lots of cake and sweet pastries. The one dinner we had together at the hotel was good without being exceptional and therefore expensive for the price. The property had also started to accept large group visits and unfortunately there was one at the time we stayed. This not only caused a number problems during the planning and booking process for my own special event with 13 people but also ended up in several of our party who had hotel reservations being asked to have a makeshift breakfast one day in another location as the Osteria restaurant had been closed off for a group event. The villa experience was good as usual and in some respects better as the property has invested in a private swimming pool for Casa Villa and Fienile. A super addition for those booking apartments in Casa Villa or Fienile! There a couple of extra touches I would like to see management adding Most of all a pair of oven gloves ! We were cooking for 13 people a couple of nights and how those gloves would have helped! Cutting knives should also be a lot sharper. We had to call up to the hotel to see if we could get sharper ones for preparing fish ) insuccès as it turns out) There was also a personal touch missing on this visit that was there on all previous visits including a welcome letter and a bottle of wine and a small basket of goodies. We had booked this property for 13 people and ordered catering for a special birthday celebration and it was strange that one of our party received a welcome letter and a bottle of wine in appreciation of their continued loyalty but not us. Food for thought! Despite these hiccups, the support from the staff was second to none. Hats off again to Livia for working so hard on putting together the birthday event On the front desk Cate was amazing. She helped us out with every request we had whether transport needs, suggestions for walks and restaurant bookings. One final suggestion. My wife fell on the steep stairs up to the massage room in the tower next to the main swimming pool. This may have been avoided with better lighting at the bottom of the stairwell.
