Didn’t expect this from Marriott. Not well maintained or managed 1) we booked one night and driving. From LA. We parked in the front to check in, the valet guys tortured us took our keys even though we said we need 5 mins to check in. There were hardly any cars parked on the front. The valley spring is $65 overnight but one block ahead it is $25 2) room clean lines and towels - very bad. We walked in and smelled food. Went to front desk for another room and cleaning both dexlone their housekeeping leave at 5 pm 3) towels are just dried and. Not washed with soap. They smell vV bad and used. They spin it on the dryer until it feels warm and then give it to you has fresh. Common people are not fools 4) thesis front desk staff is not welcoming and have a grim face. Not friendly, they treat you as though they are doing a big favor and giving the room for free. For good sake they charged $310 per night I would not recommend this place if you want basic cleanliness from any pace and a friedly staff and address the front valet parking guys from torturing you

There are a few great Marriott properties in Downtown/Gaslamp San Diego and this is one of them. Located on the edge of Little Italy and a Red Line Train stop a block away, this property has a good view of the waterfront as well as within easy walking distance of the waterfront and Gas Lamp district as well. The front desk staff person Candace was an amazing help on recommending local places to eat and the best way to pop down to the border without a car for a day trip into Tijuana. Rooms are pretty much standard 'Residence Inn” style with many rooms having small stand only balconies. There's a pool and fire pit as well. A short hop from the airport and centrally located for Uber trips or rental car access to the further reaches of the area - I strongly recommend this property. It's often a lot less expensive than the hotels closer to the Gas Lamp but just as good!

Stayed here for work for the month of December. They are dog friendly that’s why I chose them, but they are not dog conscious. Let me explain: when we arrived after traveling for two and a half days, we checked into our room that cost approximately $295 per night. As usual I checked the room out to make sure it was safe for my little 5lb fur-baby. Alas, I readily find that the room has not been vacuumed as I picked up a Benadryl pill and a yellow piece of candy that I can only assume had chocolate in it based on its size. Chocolate is poison to dogs and anything is poison to a 5lb dog. I let it go. We scheduled to have housekeeping come in to clean when we weren’t at work and had our dog with us and out of the room. I left a good tip and had everything ready for them, e.g. towels in one pile on the tile floor, items up and off the ground, etc, but again they did not vacuum. We scheduled housekeeping again and I left an even larger tip with a note that asked for additional washcloths, and a new/cleaned extra blanket b/c the one that was in the closet hadn’t been cleaned prior to our occupancy. How do I know this? B/c when we went to use it a Gatorade cap fell out of it! So with the $20 tip, we didn’t get additional washcloths, he/she simply folded-up the previously soiled blanket, and we still haven’t had it vacuumed and we have a pet that we are paying extra for. Dogs shed—vacuuming is required! The front desk staff are super nice and the outside area where you can take your pets to use the bathroom is nice, but the rooms are not clean. Aside from the issues listed above, the handles on the cabinets were sticky and the windows are dirty from the inside (probably from the bathroom shower). I’ve purchased cleaner to clean handles and countertops. I wish the suites came with a vacuum that the guests could use. So I like staying here, but if you have a dog please do a protective sweep for things left by prior guests.
