Upon arriving at the hotel around 6 pm after visiting Hershey Park we checked-in & made our way to the room. The room was at the very end of the hallway. I thought the price of $262 was a bit high but we did book a room with a jacuzzi tub, immediately when we checked-in I realized the BW app and website pictures were likely from ten years ago! In the hallway we noticed a foul odor, which seemed to be coming of the outside exit door which was just outside of our room. When we entered the room, it was incredibly humid & musty smelling. Initially it looked okay, for a budget hotel, however we quickly noticed how dirty the carpet and surrounding tiles around the jacuzzi were. Upon further investigation we noticed the carpet was actually soaking wet in some places & damp in others, the carpet just outside the room’s door and the exit door both had considerable wet spots from what appeared to be some kind of leak or flooding potentially from outside of the room or outdoors. Either way the carpet was damp and wet as mentioned, which is likely the cause of the humidity and musty smell. However, it only got worse from there. My fiancé quickly realized not only was the carpet dirty & wet/damp among other things the tiles surrounding the jacuzzi also had black mold growing along much of the tiling and the walls. We had decided to make the best of it but once we realized there was black mold I couldn’t fathom staying there for the price we paid. To top it off… the bed itself was more like an army cot or just springs honestly and the furniture and entire room looked as if no one had cleaned or even occupied it in quite some time. I’d also like to address the fact that upon leaving the room we attempted to use the exit door to the right of our room instead of walking through the front of the hotel only to find when we opened the door there was what can only be described as weeks and weeks of garbage piled up high right along the walls of the hotel, just outside the door when you open it. That was clearly the culprit of the odor in the hallway, as well as, when opening the door there were bee’s and flies swarming all of the garbage. The clerk on duty said he was only filling in that day and he said he 100% understood the situation and that we would receive a full refund. He must’ve known the condition already because he didn’t come into the room while we were there to look at the water damage, mold, etc. He explained the manager would give us the refund on the card we used when booking. We have yet to receive a refund after several emails and calls both to the hotel and Best Western’s corporate contacts. It's more than obvious the photos listed on several sites, including the BW app itself are either old or filtered. Attached pictures of the mold around the tiles, etc.
