Oh dear, where to start, lumpy hard pillows, rock hard beds, water in rooms cost 1 euro each, 5 euros if you want to use your kitchenette, we had to beg for coffee and tea bags, luke warm water most days which barely trickled out. Only thing in its favour is that it is close to all eateries but they all pretty much serve the same pastas, seafood. Have had nicer italian food in Australia, dont expect fabulous ocean swimming, beaches full of rotting seaweed. Closest swimming beach is 15 mins by bus. I’d give this town a miss.

In a secluded courtyard off the main drag, this is a restful place. Yes, the rooms could probably do with a makeover, but everything worked as it should. We liked the 4-poster! Breakfast in their restaurant next door was fine - not just cakes! - and Dario and his colleague on reception were both very helpful.

Don’t be misled by the beautiful and quite quaint setting.First of all you don’t get exactly a warm welcome and that sets the tone of this place. The room itself was ok, quite spacious with a comfortable bed. But the bathroom, the shower in particular is just the pits! First of all you can hardly move it’s so small (we are quite slim) but the little bit of water, at times hardly warm, dribbling from an dirty old shower head, with the shower attachment hanging off the wall, is just not acceptable! An ancient fridge with the freezer compartment jammed up with a big block of ice, the tap on the kitchen unit hanging loose did not inspire much confidence. All in all a very unwelcoming place that is best avoided .

We stayed at Ai Lumi over the Easter weekend to watch the Easter parade in Trapani, one of the biggest and best in Sicily. Such a pleasure to stay in such a lovely historic property. A huge courtyard of plants leads off the street and passers by watch jealously as you enter! They have a great pulley system to get your bags upstairs! We stayed in a room at the back, with a living room and kitchenette as well as a bedroom and bathroom. The rooms facing on to the main street look lovely through I imagine a bit noisier over Easter. Breakfast is in the Ai Lumi restaurant next door, where we also had a couple of lovely meals. All the staff at the hotel and the restaurant were very nice and friendly.
