I visited YHA Grasmere as wanted to stay the evening as was pressed for time, I was informed the location was booked for a private function I asked if I could use the toilet quickly as desperately need to relieve myself, the female reception rolled her eyes at me and did not appear to want to even allow me to use the toilet but did, I used the toilet and when I tried to wash my hands, the tap came off in my hand, It was broken and had been placed precariously on top, there was no sign not to use it or to inform that it was broken, I washed my hands but would not turn off the tap so reported it to the reception who again rolled her eyes and said ”you turned it on?” She seemed annoyed that I had done this, I told her ”well yes, I used the toilet and wanted to wash my hands” she walked off in a huff and I left, I will NEVER return to this YHA and would definitely NOT recommend this YHA to anyone, the receptionist attitude did not reflect well on YHA and was a very Stark contrast to YHA Borrowdale

Great hotel with a decent location in the middle of the Lake District. You can walk/ cycle to Ambleside which is 5 miles away. Low fells are easy to hike for great views of the area around. The hotel is more like a private house with rooms. We got a small suite with bedroom, bathroom and living room. We could just about see the lake from the living room. The bathroom only has a bath and no shower head which was a difficulty for washing hair. Except for that it was very well organised. Breakfast was at a nearby pub - The Good Sport. It was a limited selection on the menu: full English, breakfast rolls, toast or porridge. You also got a 10% for dinner in the pub too.

We stayed in room 11 and were really pleased with the room. It was spacious with a comfortable bed. The place was spotless throughout and had a laid back feel, which we liked. The bathroom was luxurious with a shower and a separate spa bath. Again spotless however the glass door to the bathroom wasn’t ideal, leaving us with no privacy. The location is stunning and central to the village and handy for the shops and cafes etc and we could come and go as we pleased. On arrival we were greeted by whom I can only assume is the manager, slightly eccentric but a nice man. Check in was a bit rushed but we were fine with that. The only negatives really was that it would have been nice to have an iron in the room. I did ask for one but it never arrived. I realise it’s not a hotel but not everyone who stays are hikers. The spiral stairs to the top floor, where we were are way too steep. We are in our 50s and we struggled. There were elderly people in rooms next to us so I don’t know how they managed. They could do with a lift if it were possible. Parking isn’t great. Breakfast was a bit awkward, we are both vegan and we went elsewhere the first morning but we were told that if we got to the kitchen at 9.40 the next morning , there would be vegan sausages waiting for us. We got there on time only to discover we had been forgotten about. The manager did his best but we had to wait and it was a bit uncomfortable and ended up with 2 sausages and some beans. No vegan butter etc. A bit of extra thought would go a long way. We were booked to stay for 2 nights and asked if we could stay a third but unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate us and we booked in to the Wordsworth Hotel next door. What a mistake that was, not a patch on the Moss Grove. We would have crawled back on our knees if they could have taken us back! Regardless of everything, it was a lovely place, with a relaxed and friendly vibe,clean, spacious and we would love to go there again one day.

We were in room 30 which was an upgrade to a superior room. We were grateful but I am 6'4'' and room 30 is a loft conversion and so the eves are low and I could only stand up straight in the centre of the room. The hotel were not to know that and I could have gone back to reception to ask for our original room back. The room facilities were nice. Separate seating area with TV. The 2 seater sofa in the separate seating area was very old, had collapsed and urgently needs to be replaced (this is a simple fix and a few hundred pounds). The super king bed was very comfortable with high quality linen. Power points beside the beds which nowadays is a must. A remote control Shark stand alone fan was welcome even though it was October. No view from Room 30 but hey ho. The bathroom was clean with a bath and the shower was very powerful. I'm sad to say, and in sympathy with many recent reviews, the real issues were to do with with the restaurant and dining experience. Our package included dinner on both nights. I have to be honest and say that we almost didn't eat in the restaurant on the second night. On our first night we arrived in the restaurant on time at 8pm. We were seated cordially and noticed another couple were also seated beside us 2 or 3 minutes later. Much to our surprise our neighbours had their order taken first which put us back further in the kitchen and the delays started there. The speed of the food coming from the kitchen was very slow. The restaurant didn't seem full, we were some of the last to be seated and the rush had passed, but we waited at least 40 minutes for our starter and we were finally served our main course 70 or so minutes after we sat down. Maybe the kitchen was short staffed. An improvement here would have been better communication from the waiting staff who must have been able to recognise the extra long delays in food coming out. Much of the food was good but my Ribeye steak was almost inedible. Very tough, poor quality cut or maybe I was unlucky. I recognise that Ribeye can be a hit or a miss but this was definitely a miss. My wife had the beef fillet which was very good indeed. We hoped that our second night would improve and sadly it didn't although we did get an understanding of the mistake made the previous night with the order of our order as the lovely waiter told us that it was his first night that night. He was obviously a well trained guy and we don't blame him. Service was again very slow but we both decided to go safe and ordered the fillet of beef. After an hour wait we were approached by the Maitre D' who informed us that they had essentially sold out of the fillet and chef wanted to augment the small portion of fillet with a ribeye. Of course we accepted, what else could we do, but the ribeye was again a severe let down but perhaps not quite as bad as the previous night. We did wonder how the Chef wasn't able to tell the waiter that he didn't have enough fillet when the order went in. Obvi

I have never met a member of staff as rude as Vanessa on the front desk. Not only did she make us feel bad about having a complementary meal due to it being our honeymoon (which we did not have in the end, due to her rudeness) they tried to charge us for it on check out. Our breakfasts were either the completely wrong order or what we ordered was undercooked and had to be sent back. For a so called 4 star Spa Hotel, I wouldn’t give you even a 1 star rating. I can honestly say it’s the worst place I have ever had the misfortune to stay. NO ONE should EVER have to stay here and put up with what we had to. Appalling!!!

2021 년 11 월에이 2 박 휴식을 예약했습니다. 원래 크리스마스 휴가가 예약되었지만 건강이 좋지 않아 취소해야했습니다. 우리가 예약했을 때 우리는 그 해와 같이 특정 방을 선택하고 그 방을 좋아했습니다. 우리가 체크인했을 때 다른 방이 주어졌을 때, 질문을 받았을 때 누군가가 지난 2 박 동안 그 방에있을 수 없다고 들었습니다. 방을 받아 들일 수 밖에 없습니다. 처음 들어 오면 방 자체는 매우 좋았습니다. 욕실에 들어갔을 때 목욕탕 앞쪽에 검은 곰팡이가 발견되었습니다. 이틀 밤 동안 너무 많은 돈을 지불 할 때 기대했던 것이 아닙니다. 침실에는 벽에 구멍이 있었는데 누군가가 그것을 펀치 한 것처럼 보였습니다! 벽지는 한 구석에 모두 긁혔습니다. 방 주위의 항목에 먼지가 실행되지 않았고, 언젠가 완료되지 않은 것처럼 보였습니다. 다음날 객실 변경에 대해 관리자에게 말했고, 그는 예약을 확인했으며 객실 선택은 예약 중이었습니다. 저녁 식사와 와인 한 병을 제공했는데, 매우 좋았습니다. 방으로 돌아와 화장실을 사용하면 고장났습니다. 이것을보고하고 누군가가 검사를 할 것이라고 들었습니다. 방으로 돌아 오는 날 동안 외출했는데 여전히 고정되어 있지 않으며 5 시간 이상 물을 흘리면 좋지 않습니다. 다시보고 된 후 고정되었습니다. 6.30pm 루에서 아침이 다시 깨졌고 남편은 호텔 층을 사용하기 위해 2 층으로 내려 가야했습니다. 다시보고했습니다. 우리는 작년에이 호텔에 머물 렀으며 모든 것이 완벽했습니다. 우리는 이번에 방과 방의 상태로 바뀌어 실망했습니다. 레스토랑과 바 지역의 직원은 모두 매우 훌륭하며 이번에는 즐거운 시간을 보내는 사람들입니다. 우리가 돌아 오지 않을 것이라고 말하는 것이 슬프다. 어떤 사람들은 내가이 리뷰의 일부에 대해 까다 롭다고 생각할 수도 있지만 우리는이 2 박 휴식 시간에 600 파운드 이상을 지불했으며 우리는 이것보다 더 좋을 것으로 기대합니다.
