We're no strangers to the lakes and we are no strangers to staying and visiting The Wateredge Inn. We stayed in July for my dad’s Birthday, it was amazing and such a lovely spot. last week we stayed in Bowness and we had a trip over to see our fave spot! We went for a birthday meal, and I have to say If this had been my first visit I wouldn’t rush back! The large portly man behind the bar was very unfriendly and for many years I can safely say the staff here have been A* however he was drab, snappy and a person who is never wrong! We asked for Cava with my partner being Spanish and his birthday it would have been a nice touch we rudely got snapped at and he said what is it the 80's nobody drinks that! (clearly never been to Spain) I do believe he was trying to be funny but just came across passive aggressive! I said Well who drinks prosecco to come back from his rather abrupt comment his right handman who clearly loved to stick up for buddy snapped and said why do you think we sell it! It was all very silly and unnecessary to attempting to argue with a customer who asked for a drink. The best response would have been ‘Very sorry we don't but we do have prosecco? but we'd rather have a very odd interaction & one which left us a bit off guard. I have left a 3 star rating because the food was fine and usually it’s a very nice place so I’m hoping we just caught the staff on an off day, I will say though it costs very little to smile but makes a big difference!

On this visit I used one of the camping pods in the grounds of YHA Holly How, I not only found them to be very comfortable but very spacious for my needs. With full access to the facilities within the hostel as well it made for a very enjoyable visit. If you want somewhere to stay within the Coniston area that will give you a good base for your visit without breaking the bank this is it.

We visited on the Saturday evening and had a lovely meal, man behind the bar very welcoming. They check on how the meal was and we were very impressed so said we would return on the Sunday for a roast dinner. Not so welcoming on the Sunday different staff behind the bar, ordered 2 roast beef dinners and it was shocking. The worst Yorkhire pudding ever burnt to a crisp. They never came to check on how the food was. The beef was so tough like it had been reheated on a grill. Overall it was the worst Sunday roast I think I ever had. Such a difference in the Food and service from one day to the next. We left very disappointed and still hungry as it was not edible.

On arrival in the pouring rain 3.45pm door to inn was locked, knocked on the door and lady shouted we are closed, come back at 4pm, 15mins? I said we are staying she said we are not ready. Ok! But no apologies just a bit rude, so we went for a coffee Came back after meeting up with my young family, my son and fiancé and 2 boys 3&5, my daughter 7 months pregnant husband and toddler 2 We requested a table for dinner and after some discussion were shown to the family side of the inn, very nice. We checked into our room while the family settled in to order for kids so not too late(5.30) Ordered drinks and a full family meal for 6 adults 3 kids which was lovely kids well behaved, at 6.30 popped upstairs with the toddler and boys to put PJs on. they were staying at the camp site 5 mins away that’s why we booked the Trout beck Inn, to be close to them just down the rd We had just finished dinner and the weather had changed to strong winds, so bad there was a weather warning announcement, we asked could we book 2 more rooms and were told no! although they were available they couldn’t access the booking system? So we suggested we booked tonight and paid tomorrow as weather so bad to go back to camp site with the kids Still no compromise a NO I total understand policy and procedures but this was handled all wrong even a phone call could have been made to possibly get permission surely it’s about sales! And filling rooms So we suggested my daughter pregnant and the toddler stay in our room and we would stay at camp! For their safety Again we were told NO toddler not insured? Ok understand but to say no to my day couldn’t stay 7 months pregnant, ridiculous and unacceptable ……morning - We were told on arrival please fill in Your breakfast form the night before and with all the fuss with room request and bad weather getting everyone out safely we forgot , so in the morning - breakfast served 8-9am on website, We asked at 8.30 if we could have some breakfast and lady said NO you didn’t fill in your form ! Honestly ridiculous attitude, we were told - We cook to order and buy in per order the night before ? Really So I’m not sure how that works for an Inn who can provide full evening menus unannounced but breakfast is a no go! How can a property who is providing accommodation and food as a service not have eggs, bacon, sausage,mushrooms or even cereals etc on site. 🤔 She did eventually offer toast but not with a smile Just unbelievable service and attitude, I can say one man from the bar helped by getting ice for us when the lady said she didn’t have any left so thank you to that gentleman. Seems so short sighted that the Inn itself is lovely rooms are good, but the rest is all desperately disappointing and unacceptable front of house service was uncaring and just not guest friendly really let the Inn down. We started and fin our linier hike from here,we had 2 4 bed rooms and ours had a balcony overlooking the river,check in was quick and easy and we all got settled in the rooms before having a beer in the bar/dining area, The rooms are comfortable with enough space for kit and the beds although bunk beds are well made and sturdy, Our room had a toilet and shower with a sink in the sleeping area,oneroblem we had was the toilet never filled properly and this was reported to reception, The hostel is popular and when we were there a group of 50 students were also there but the staff were great at serving either beers or breakfast in the morning. It's a great place to head out from with its excellent location and we will deffo stay here again

We stayed at The Temperance Inn in Ambleside on a walking break. The staff here are excellent, being efficient but also communicative. There were a couple of issues with items on the menu being unavailable, however the staff were apologetic about this. We would be happy to stay here again.

I visited YHA Grasmere as wanted to stay the evening as was pressed for time, I was informed the location was booked for a private function I asked if I could use the toilet quickly as desperately need to relieve myself, the female reception rolled her eyes at me and did not appear to want to even allow me to use the toilet but did, I used the toilet and when I tried to wash my hands, the tap came off in my hand, It was broken and had been placed precariously on top, there was no sign not to use it or to inform that it was broken, I washed my hands but would not turn off the tap so reported it to the reception who again rolled her eyes and said ”you turned it on?” She seemed annoyed that I had done this, I told her ”well yes, I used the toilet and wanted to wash my hands” she walked off in a huff and I left, I will NEVER return to this YHA and would definitely NOT recommend this YHA to anyone, the receptionist attitude did not reflect well on YHA and was a very Stark contrast to YHA Borrowdale

결혼 기념일을 축하하기 위해 마지막 순간에 숙박합니다. 호텔이 영어 호수 그룹의 일부였던 5 년 전에 머물 렀습니다. 그 이후로 많이 바뀌지 않았습니다. 새로운 외부 가구는 내가 알아 냈습니다. 그리고 이것이 4가 5가 아닌 이유입니다! 위치, 음식 및 직원 모두 훌륭합니다. 그리고 이것은 개들이 바 지역에서 먹고 머물 수 있고 직원들이 적극적으로 그들을 환영하는 진정한 의미에서 훌륭한 개 친화적 인 호텔입니다. 휠체어에 접근 할 수있는 30 호실 (목욕탕 만 독립적이지 않고 샤워 실이 고정 된 머리가 아닌 사람)은 괜찮 았습니다. 편안한 침대, 멋진 전망, 휠체어 사용자라면 편리합니다. 그러나 욕실에는 얼룩이 묻은 카펫, 녹슨 장식품 및 썩은 땅이 있으며 깨진 바닥 타일. 페인트 작업이 빗겨지고 카펫이 문판 아래에서 삐걱 거리고 있습니다. 생각 실은 현재 상태로 가격이 비싸다. 리퍼브 / 리프레쉬로 객실 문제를 해결하기를 희망합니다.
