I stayed with my sister and wished we would have checked the reviews here first. The hostel itself is okay—there’s a skinny elevator which takes you to whatever floor you need. The rooms are big, the bathroom was dirty, but the air was nice. Overall, for a hostel, it’s okay. However, the customer service is terrible. We had emailed this place 3 times in one month, asking for an early check in as our flight from Thailand (which ended up being a 25 hour journey all transportation included) landed at 7 am. They never responded. So we got to front desk around 9 am and requested to check in. The guy laughed at us, saying check in was at 3. I explained we had a very long journey and had an early flight so we had no control over what time we arrived. He smugly said that was the price of traveling. He then softened and said we could come back at 11 to get a room. We dropped our bags off, left, and returned at 11. There was a new guy working front desk who was very friendly. He said it was no problem and showed us to our room. The rest of the day was fine, except that we had immense trouble unlocking our room door only to be told the keys they had given us were not perfect copies and did not work well. Why not just get rid of the keys? But whatever. The next day goes by and when it’s around 9:30 pm or so we are in bed because we’re absolutely tired. The lights are off. The manager knocks a bunch then comes in with a girl behind him. He repeatedly questions who we are and who is staying in the room with us (there were 2 other girls). Despite us telling him, he kept asking angrily. Then he says “what the f***! Excuse my language, but this is terrible.” Apparently the hostel had been overbooked. He asks us when we checked in—we answered yesterday morning. He continually told us we were wrong and that we checked in earlier this day. He was so angry he could barely control himself or think. We explained to him the entire story of our check in and he says we were never checked in on his system. He says he stayed up till 12 am waiting for us, which is just his shift and he never sent us a message asking us if we were here or checked his email where we had informed them we would like an early check in. Eventually, he leaves. Then a couple minutes later he knocks once and barges back in and tells us we owe city tax and that we didn’t register. He demands we pay right at that moment despite me not having any euros (I had to borrow it from our roommates). So I put on my clothes and go downstairs. Downstairs he informs me he had to ask the overbooked person to stay somewhere else for the night and expresses that we never returned to register with the front desk. I say I don’t really know what he’s talking about, but it’s okay. Apparently, we never gave our passports and we had assumed that one of the front desk people had checked us in because, well, why wouldn’t they? But mistakes happen, so it’s okay, but the manager was not okay in the slightest. So he begins l
